Edna Earle Wood Height, 84, of Roanoke Rapids, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Height was a native of Halifax County, the daughter of the late Lonnie Frank Wood and Clemmie Chichester Wood. She was retired after 27 years of service with Sears and Roebuck Company. Mrs. Height was an active member of Rosemary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Ray Height and a son, Steve Height.

Mrs. Height is survived by two daughters, Johnnye Earle Burleson and her husband, Dwight, of Whiteville, NC and Judy Nicholson of Greenville, NC; one son, Mike Height and his wife, Hilary, of Stockton, CA; eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Saturday, April 4, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Rosemary Baptist Church with Dr. Layne Wallace and Rev. David Archer officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
